Is the Delhi Capitals 2027 squad confirmed?

No final Delhi Capitals squad has been announced for IPL 2027. The reference list below reflects Pant and Ansari joining, with Kuldeep and Natarajan leaving. Retentions, releases and auction additions can still change the group, and earlier replacement signings are not automatically confirmed for the new season.

Total squad count25 players

This is Delhi Capitals’ updated pre-auction player pool, not the final IPL 2027 squad. Zeeshan Ansari joined DC on October 14, replacing the outgoing T Natarajan in the player count. Earlier, Rishabh Pant arrived from Lucknow Super Giants while Kuldeep Yadav moved to LSG. Temporary IPL 2026 injury replacements still need their contract status checked separately before the final squad is published.

What the Rishabh Pant and Kuldeep Yadav trade changes

Pant’s return is confirmed. On 23 June 2026, Delhi Capitals announced the trade: Pant moved back to DC and Kuldeep joined Lucknow Super Giants.

Pant previously played 111 matches for Delhi, scored 3,284 runs and captained the franchise. He returns as a left handed batter, wicketkeeper and experienced leader.

Kuldeep took 72 wickets in 65 matches for DC from 2022 to 2026. Axar provides left arm orthodox spin and Vipraj Nigam and Rehan Ahmed offer leg spin, but none directly replaces Kuldeep’s left arm wrist spin.

Pant, KL Rahul and Abishek Porel can all keep wicket. DC must decide who takes the gloves, where Pant and Rahul bat and how Porel fits, rather than forcing every recognised name into one eleven.

Delhi Capitals Acquire Zeeshan Ansari as Natarajan Returns to SRH

Delhi Capitals completed another IPL 2027 player trade on October 14, acquiring 26-year-old leg-spinner Zeeshan Ansari from Sunrisers Hyderabad for ₹40 lakh. Indian left-arm pacer T Natarajan moved to SRH at a revised contract of ₹5 crore.

Ansari played 10 IPL matches for Hyderabad in 2025 and took six wickets. His debut performance came against Delhi Capitals, when he claimed three wickets.

The trade gives Delhi a domestic wrist-spin option after Kuldeep Yadav’s departure to Lucknow Super Giants. However, Ansari is a right-arm leg-spinner, while Kuldeep is a left-arm wrist-spinner. They offer different bowling angles and variations.

Natarajan’s departure removes an experienced Indian left-arm pace option. Delhi now have to assess their available Indian seamers alongside overseas quicks such as Mitchell Starc, Lungi Ngidi and Kyle Jamieson.

The exchange was confirmed in the official IPL trade announcement.

Delhi’s upcoming auction requirements have therefore become clearer: Ansari adds affordable spin depth, but domestic fast-bowling cover remains an important area to assess.

The complete player movement is detailed in the T Natarajan and Zeeshan Ansari trade update.

Three leaders give DC one major captaincy decision

Delhi Capitals have not announced their captain for IPL 2027. KL Rahul is reportedly the frontrunner to replace Axar Patel, who remains the captain listed on the official IPL team profile.

SportsTiger’s captaincy report identifies Rahul as the leading candidate and names Tristan Stubbs as another option if Rahul does not take the role. These are reported possibilities, not a confirmed leadership change.

Rahul has previously captained Punjab Kings and Lucknow Super Giants. Returning wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant has also led Delhi, but his trade back to DC does not confirm a captaincy appointment. Captaincy, wicketkeeping and batting positions remain separate decisions for the franchise.

Delhi Capitals Coaching Staff for IPL 2027

Delhi Capitals have confirmed Sourav Ganguly as head coach, Yuvraj Singh as assistant and batting coach, Chaminda Vaas as fast bowling coach and Amit Mishra as spin bowling coach.

Delhi Capitals in IPL 2026: Results and the Playoff Gap

Delhi Capitals finished sixth in IPL 2026 with seven wins, seven defeats and 14 points. Their net run rate was minus 0.651. Fourth placed Rajasthan Royals finished on 16 points, leaving DC two points behind the final playoff position. One additional victory would have brought Delhi level on points, but qualification could still have depended on net run rate and which result changed.

KL Rahul scored 593 runs, while DC’s next highest batter, Pathum Nissanka, made 278. That 315 run gap shows the reliance on Rahul, whose unbeaten 152 against Punjab Kings was the highest individual IPL score by an Indian batter.

Lungi Ngidi led DC with 13 wickets. Axar Patel and Mitchell Starc took 11 each, while Kuldeep claimed 10. Delhi had several useful contributors, but no bowler moved beyond 13 wickets across the season.

Delhi won their final three league matches but still finished outside the top four. The closing run showed improvement, although it came too late to overcome the points deficit. More consistent contributions around Rahul would reduce the pressure on one batter next season.

The four squad problems DC must solve before the auction

Delhi’s next squad deadline is November 17, followed by the December 16 mini auction in Goa. Registration closes on November 23 and the final auction register is scheduled for December 3. DC’s spending room and vacancies depend on their retained contracts, releases and completed trades. The auction guide tracks those figures separately from player predictions.

Zeeshan Ansari gives Delhi Capitals a new Indian leg-spin option, but his six wickets in 10 IPL matches show that he is still developing at this level. Axar Patel provides left-arm orthodox spin, while Vipraj Nigam and other available options offer different variations. Delhi must decide whether this group provides sufficient middle-overs wicket-taking depth or whether another specialist spinner is needed at the auction.

Rahul anchored the 2026 batting, Pant needs room to attack and Porel needs a route into the side. The balance may change by opponent, but each requires a defined job.

Starc, Ngidi, Chameera and Jamieson could be selected together under the four overseas player limit, but that would leave no overseas place for a batter such as Nissanka, Miller or Stubbs. With Natarajan now at SRH, reliable Indian seam options become more important to Delhi’s balance. The auction decisions will need to account for both bowling cover and the batting combination.

Delhi should assign their four overseas slots to clear top order, finishing and bowling jobs before buying another prominent name. The IPL 2027 trades tracker covers player transfers separately from auction purchases.

Delhi Capitals Home Ground and IPL 2027 Fixtures

Arun Jaitley Stadium is DC’s home ground. Its surface can reward pace changes and spin, but conditions vary. In 2026, Sameer Rizvi made 90 from 51 balls on a slow pitch against Mumbai Indians. Later, Rahul’s 152 helped DC reach 264 for 2 against Punjab Kings there.

DC need batters who can create pace when the pitch grips and bowlers who can defend on better batting surfaces. One fixed combination will not suit every home match.

Delhi Capitals’ IPL 2027 fixtures, start times and home allocations have not been announced. Arun Jaitley Stadium remains DC’s home ground. Check the IPL 2027 schedule for match details and the venues guide for ground information.
